Hey there,

By now I’m really, REALLY disappointed by WD Support and I hope that by posting here it will get better.

I’ve opened 2 Support-Cases which were both closed without a sufficent answer. One of them was closed without even notifying me, letting me wait for an answer and never getting one.

I have 4 WD RE4-GP (Model: WD2002FYPS-01U1B0)which I planned to upgrade to 01U1B1 trough a Firmware-Upgrade from 04.05G04 to 04.05G05.

The drives weren’t used much but they all show severe wear in form of SMART-Errors due to exceeeded tresholds for
 re-allocated blocks and such. The also show very bad performance outside of the NAS they were used in.

This PDF ( WD RE4 GP Block Point Change) shows that there is an update available. This PDF was previously hosted on the KnowledgeBase of LSI. Along with the Update-Utility and Firmware. But it’s down now.

 Can anyone help me here?

The issue is now resolved.

A support-technician tried to send me an e-mail with the .exe-file attached on my second ticket but it got filtered from our mailserver.

After posting here I got a call from him and we resolved the issue quickly.
