FLashing blue light? What did you do to break it?

Is the My Cloud Dashboard accessible?

Has anything change recently on the local network? New broadband provider? Changed local network router? Changed local network router settings? Added new network clients?

WD Support has several Knowledgebase Articles covering blinking blue front LED.

The second gen single bay My Cloud User Manual (http://products.wdc.com/library/?id=439&type=25&cn=4779-705147&lang=en) indicates the following for a blinking blue front LED.

Powering Up Blue Blinking
• Displays when you first apply power to the unit.
• Reset pressed.
Initializing Blue Blinking
• Device has begun loading the Operating System (OS).
• Firmware update in progress.

So what to do about it. One option is to leave the My Cloud alone for a while and see if the issue clears. Other basic troubleshooting steps is to perform a 40 second reset. Check/replace Ethernet cable. Try a different router networking port. Try putting a network switch between the My Cloud and the network router. Power off the My Cloud, wait a while, then power it back on and see if the blue LED continues to flash.

In rare instances a firmware update can corrupt the My Cloud OS causing the unit to not boot up. One can, if they choose to do so, try reloading the firmware using one of the various unbrick methods for the second gen single bay My Cloud units. Note however this may destroy any existing user data. It is advised to backup that data first before attempting one of the unbrick processes. Unbricking typically involves shucking the My Cloud enclosure and extracting the My Cloud hard drive. From there one can attach (using a USB to SATA adapter or a spare SATA port) that drive to a computer running Linux, or running a Linux boot disc/USB flash drive, or running Linux Drivers. Once the drive is attached to the computer one can search for the data partition (typically the EXT4 partition) and copy or backup the user data from the My Cloud drive to another location. Then one an try one of the unbrick methods.

User Fox_exe has put together a set of unbrick directions for the second gen single bay My Cloud units that some have used successfully to unbrick their My Cloud.
