I already use my My Cloud device over a year now, I had several problems but non that I couldn’t slove … until now!
I was working on my pc (Windows 8.1) today, everything was fine, until I suddenly lost access to my folders, on multiple computers, with different users.
I can perfectly access the Dashboard, make changes and save them. I can open the \WDMYCLOUD\ or through the IP address, but there are no folders!
When I create a new share, I can see them perfectly.
I already tried to take away my access and give it back, but it didn’t change.
I tried to make a new user and give him access to the shares, but he didn’t see them either.
But when I try to access it through the Android app, I can see everything!! So it’s not a problem of restrictions.
this is a fairly common issue. If you are at all comfortable with Linux make a backup copy of /etc/samba/overall_share and place it on one of the user shares. if it gets corrupted again just copy it back. Remember to keep it updated when you change share details
it appears that it is more likely to happen when you rush share settings, make one change wait for it to finish then do the next
