G-Drive USB-C Auto Unmouting on 2017 MacBook Pro

Just bought a new G-Drive 4TB USB-C. Within two minutes of having it connected it auto ejected itself causing the warning message about unmounting drives to appear.

It has continued to do it randomly. I tried the supplied USB-C cable as well as the MacBook issued USB-C cable. No change. I also set the energy preferences to not allow the drive to sleep. No change.

The unit is straight out of the box. Could it be just faulty or could it be something else as I see many posts online about drives auto ejecting themselves?

Thank you

If it is ejecting on its own right away like that and you’ve tried another cable then it is likely a defect in that unit.

Thanks for the reply. The suppliers are of the same opinion so I’ll return it and try another unit.
