Here is what happened I have multiple G-Tech Drives connected to my Mac (G-tech mini 1TB, G-Tech 4TB, GRAID 8TB non removable). I just bought a new 12 TB G1 G-RAID…the plan was to run it in Raid 1 to back up some crucial data… When I went to initialize it and by run the G-Tech RAID configuration utility somehow the utility picked up my other 8TB GRAID drive I had running in RAID 0 with 6TB of data on it and reformatted it to RAID 1 - essentially erasing all the data (even though it showed it wasn’t mounted to the OS yet…Frustrating). Now my 8 TB Drive shows a capacity of 4TB but is not Reinitialized yet according to MAC OS… before I do anything else… Does anyone know if this sort of thing is recoverable by DIY means (Software)? I was wondering if it was a completely different scenario than a standard drive reformat? if not DIY, is it even recoverable by a Data Recovery Center? Any help is greatly appreciated. IMO the G_RAID configuration utility has an opportunity to distinguish drives and/or their capacity better in their utility UI, I am usually really careful with stuff like this and I am just sick to my stomach right now.
