You’re right, this discussion is old, but the error has just been removed only on some devices, and even though it is an internationally standardized interface. The current latest firmware did not solve the problem with me.
HDMI seems to be no standard but rather to be a disaster, at least on this device, because I’ve heard so far of such compatibility problems with other devices yet.
On my TV set so far worked all HDMI devices, only the WD TVlive "not.
To that extent, therefore, a while old but still relevant discussion.
mueding, I have to agree with you…There are many threads with this same problem. They have fixed the HDMI issues for a lot of TVs, but there are still a lot of people having problems (including me).
The thing that I really don’t understand, is why the WD box does not remember the video settings when you set them manually. I can understand that it is hard to get HDMI negotiation to work with all TVs. That is OK. No one expects auto negotiation to work with all TVs. However, When the user manually sets the video resolution and colorspace, the WD box should remember these settings the next time that you turn it on.
In my case, even though I have manually set the video output to 1080i 60Hz, and colorspace to RGB low, when I power the unit off/on, about 50% of the time it comes up set at 720p (which my TV does not support) and 98% of the time the colorspace comes up set at RGB high. For me, this problem has been there with every firmware version (and all of the Betas). I really wish that they would spend more time fixing this problem (not remembering the video settings when powered off/on) and forget about working on the auto negotiation problem for a while. If they could get the box to remember the video settings when powered off, it will not matter that the auto negotiation does not work!
Actually, guys, lets start an updated thread for this. This is hard for other users to wade through, just to get to the new stuff. I’m closing this thread out.
