Help with WD MY Book World WD100000H1NC-00 faliure

I have a WD My Book world 1TB vesion which is about 18-24 months old and it has failed with lots of important data on.

I have been using it as the storage device for my home pc and AV network and last night streaming video from it became jittery and the video became unwatched.  The device was still visible to the computers and AV devices on the network.

To try and solve this I turned the power off to the My book World and waited a while and turned it back on but that made it worse and now it cannot be seen by any other device.

On start up the white light on the front of the unit slowly fills (rising from bottom to top when stood upright) and when it was working it would completly light up, flash off and then move up and down (like the light on Knight Rider).

Now, it gradully fills to 75% and then stays there.

I am probably going to be buying  a 4TB device now with mirroring but any ideas on how to fix my current one or save the data?

All help appreciated.

Simon

I am having the exact same problem!

If it is our discs failing it seems quite a strange coincidence it happened in the same way at the same time.  I wonder if there was an update that caused this.

I am going to email support later today and ask for assistance as I have a lot of data on the drive I want to save.

Moving to a RAID array for the new solution.  Nothing like closing that door after the horse is long gone :frowning:

try using a different cable or connecting to the computer direct

connected directly to a wall outlet
