How private is PUBLIC ACCESS ON?

This might be a dumb question but being new to this I have to ask.

When choosing to turn PUBLIC ACCESS ON. Does that make that folder open to ANYONE ?

Calling it Public is confusing. I am the only USER set up.

As I stated in the other thread you posted, Public means that any User that has access to your My Cloud can view the contents of that folder.

If you are the only User then only you and those on your local network can view the folders content. That does not mean that anyone can see the files.  It’s “Public” as in your local network public not"Public" as anyone on the internet.

Anybody who has access to your drive no matter where they are in the world can see that folder. However you must allow them access to the drive. It does not mean that the general public can access it. Its a bit like a club where you can only get in with a membership card but once there you can only access the public areas but not the private rooms.

Thank you both! They need to change that so it doesn’t sound "public’!

Unfortunately its a common name for these folders. Look at MS Skydrive, it also has a public folder.
