Mybooklive is supposed to update from the dashboard, but it keeps failing with the following error:
Error Code:1003 update failed
The following is a workaround, I can’t promise that it will solve your update issue, but it did resolved mines.
- Download the firmware directly from WD. There was a link in another post from Softpedia, but I am wary of getting malware:
http://download.wdc.com/nas/apnc-024309-038-20141208.deb
This should be downloaded to a machine with a wired ethernet connection if possible. Updates over wireless can be interrupted.

On that computer that the file was downloaded, open a browser and go to http://mybooklive. This brings up your mybooklive site.

Click on Settings. This brings up the Settings Window.

In the Settings Windows, click on Updates, which expands the Updates Section.

Click on Update From File button and select the apnc-024309-038-20141208.deb file you just downloaded and upload.

You should get a message that the firmware is updating and that mybooklive will reboot. When the install is complete, you will get a notification that firmware update was successful on the mybooklive site.
WD, it would be extremely helpful if you were to make the firmware available on a web page. I search and search but couldn’t find a link to it. Based on another forum post, I was able to guess at where it would be stored.
