My desk top blew up, so I purchased a new one with Windows 10. What is the procedure for restoring the software and disk image back to the PC and external HD? I have My Passport WDBKXH5000ABK USB 3.0 500GB
Thanks you!

It depends on how you were doing the backups to begin with.
Since you’re talking about restoring disk images, I assume you were NOT using WD Backup or Smartware, because I don’t believe either of them support bare-metal restores.
I’m using WD Backup.
Hi, I think you should be able to use the Restore function in WD Backup. Be sure to open the help box in the lower left corner.

My computer crashed and I no longer have the software. I need to download the Backup software but I can’t find it for my model on your site. Can you help?
Pick OS and further down I dnloaded WD Drive Utilities for Windows. I’m scared of Passwords but Security Dnload is there, too.
Help me out here… I have no idea what you are saying or where to find it. Give me a link or something, please.
2 links are in the blue border box above my verbiage. Clk “WD Software” or “support .wdc.com” and the Dnload page has WD Backup 1st, Utilities for Win, etc. further down.
This link pg should know you’re Win 10 so Dnload btn puts it at your usual Dnload site.
Dnload, Unzip and clk on Installer .exe as I recall.
Same for Utilities. It allows Drive Disk checks (Quick or Complete (hour+ to do) , Erase, etc.
Post bk as desired.
