How to set up my mac so i can watch movies on my WD TV Live (please help)

Hi everyone,

This weekend i bought myself a WD TV Live…the main idea was, since i have lots of my movies on my mac i would like to set up my mac so that i can stream my movies with WD TV Live to my TV.

Ive been trying to figure this out for the entire day (seriously) and i just can’t get it to work…I’m a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff so please forgive my lack of understanding how this works

I’m running Mac OSX 10.6.7 and my Mac is connected wireless (Airport) the WD TV live is also cennected wireless.

Ive been trying to fugure te set up out by folowing this  set-up tutorial…

http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8538/~/wd-tv-live-streaming-media-player-is-unable-to-access-media-content-shared-by-a

everything seems to go well untill point 7…i fill in everything but after typing in showmount -e i don’t get the folder name of IP adres like in the screenshot. Its just blank.

Could someone please explain to me or point me out to a good tutorial on how to set everything up so i can get my WD TV Live to work. You have no idea how much i’d appreciate all the help.

Kind regards,

Jochen

Instead of trying to set up sharing on your Mac you could stream using a Media Server. I use Playback but there are free Media servers that also work. One such media server is Rivet by the Little App factory (Google it) has been mentioned as working. You are running Snow Leopard which should share but I am running Lion and a media streamer is my only choice.
