It’s been partially fixed, but there are still issues. Until the problem is completely resolved, these drives will remain disabled. This is a high priority issue, but it’s complex to fix, so I’m not sure when a fix will make it into a firmware release.
Yeah but don’t forget that WD primarly provides storage solutions for a vast range of purposes. The WD HDTV is a cool extension of their products.
They’ve launched a 3tb USB external hard drive, which is what it is and what it does. I’d be gutted if I’d bought one expecting it to work straight away with the WD HDTV but I can understand the complexity of upgrading that little box to run everything they release.
I got worried when I bought my 2tb WD drive but was overjoyed when it worked. At least they’re working on a fix that will use a 3tb drive. Can’t wait.
So this is fixed and has been tested, or, it appears to be fixed and you guys are testing the firmware?
I ask because I have a 3tb WD drive, I am on firmware 1.04.31_B, and it still gives me the message “At this time, drives that are larger than 2tb are not supported.”
So this is fixed and has been tested, or, it appears to be fixed and you guys are testing the firmware?
You have the latest released firmware (1.04.31). The problem still exists in that version, however, WD staff has stated that the problem has been fixed and is in testing. Hopefully it will be included in the next release. You have to remember that this is not the only issue that WD is working on. It takes a lot of work for a company to release a new software version. They cannot release new versions every time they fix one issue.
I know it is hard, but try to be patient until the next software release. Judging by the previous releases, you won’t have to wait too long.
Wahey I just got the latest Firmware update which was automatically downloaded through my player. Does this include compatibility for 3tb external hard drives? I don’t have one yet to try out but if it’s confirmed in the latest update I’ll have to look at getting one.
