Important Notice Regarding Single USB Drives Greater than 2 TB's and WD TV Products

any updates please?

It’s been partially fixed, but there are still issues. Until the problem is completely resolved, these drives will remain disabled. This is a high priority issue, but it’s complex to fix, so I’m not sure when a fix will make it into a firmware release.

Waiting…

is there any media player out there that will support larger than 2tb drives? if there is ill just return the wd media player and get that one.

This has been fixed in firmware in testing.

Awesome. The continued upgrades, development and updates from WD really make owning the WD HDTV box a pleasure.

im not waiting around for the fix.

selling my 3Tb WD drive for 2 x 2Tb drives.

shame.

to think that the same company released 2 products that were uncompatable…

foresight goes along way in business WD!

just saying that this would of worked better for WD to release the fix before or along with the 3Tb drives.

Yeah but don’t forget that WD primarly provides storage solutions for a vast range of purposes. The WD HDTV is a cool extension of their products.

They’ve launched a 3tb USB external hard drive, which is what it is and what it does. I’d be gutted if I’d bought one expecting it to work straight away with the WD HDTV but I can understand the complexity of upgrading that little box to run everything they release.

I got worried when I bought my 2tb WD drive but was overjoyed when it worked. At least they’re working on a fix that will use a 3tb drive. Can’t wait.

i agree!

So this is fixed and has been tested, or, it appears to be fixed and you guys are testing the firmware?

I ask because I have a 3tb WD drive, I am on firmware 1.04.31_B, and it still gives me the message “At this time, drives that are larger than 2tb are not supported.”

You have the latest released firmware (1.04.31). The problem still exists in that version, however, WD staff has stated that the problem has been fixed and is in testing. Hopefully it will be included in the next release. You have to remember that this is not the only issue that WD is working on. It takes a lot of work for a company to release a new software version. They cannot release new versions every time they fix one issue.

I know it is hard, but try to be patient until the next software release. Judging by the previous releases, you won’t have to wait too long.

I am waiting for it…

6 months with a sorta useless 3TB harddrive : (

   Still waiting…

Um… Spoon?

Your other posts you said you have a Live, not a Live Plus.

The fix was released yesterday for the Live.

Mebbe you shoulda looked before complaining?

I doubt it…

Wahey I just got the latest Firmware update which was automatically downloaded through my player. Does this include compatibility for 3tb external hard drives? I don’t have one yet to try out but if it’s confirmed in the latest update I’ll have to look at getting one.

You bought a WDTV HD (Gen 2) from Best Buy RECENTLY?

That’s hard to believe.   As far as I can tell, they stopped selling those more than a year ago.
