Installing larger drives in my EX4

Hello Community,

I apologize if this has been asked before, but I can’t seem to find it.

I have an EX4 with four 3TB drives. I use RAID 1 as we are a little paranoid about drive failure.

We have have nearly maxed out our space and I’m thinking two upgrade two of our drives. I am assuming (hoping) that I can take out one drive from one volume, replace it, allow the RAID rebuild to occur and then replace the second drive of the same volume. Will that work? Anyone have experience with this?

Also, second question, what is the maximum drive size for the EX4?

6TB is the maximum size at the time of this post.

On the other hand, migrating mirrored volumes with larger hard drives is a delicate procedure. I’d recommend contacting WD Support about this. You can do so over the phone or via E-mail.
