Is it ok to switch off my connected router every night while leaving mycloud home device on?

Hi WD Community, just wondering if anyone could advise if it is ok to switch off the connected router while leaving mycloud device on? I’m gonna just leave mycloud device switched on while the connected office router turn off daily. Wondering if it might damage the wd mycloud home device? or corrupt any files?

thanks.

It will take a while for everything in your network to reconnect when you do turn it back on.

I don’t have an answer for your question. What I can say is that you have to be 100% sure that there isn’t any tasks running when you switch it off. I have corrupted time machine backups because of a black out or interrupted connection several times. In my WD My Cloud Mirror everytime my router is turned off I get a warning. I wouldn’t do that, those devices are suposed to be on and connected all the time.
I just can’t understand why would you need to turn your router off every night

The My Cloud Home is designed to be powered on and internet connected 24/7. Power Schedule and Standby mode are not supported on this product. Powering off the network router will not physically damage the My Cloud Home hardware nor corrupt the My Cloud Home operating system.

My wife sent me to this thread as we’ve been arguing about disconnecting our router at night. Right off let me say that I have an EX2Ultra, so I understand if the different hardware is an issue but i do hope you can help as I’m at whits end.

After disconnecting the router overnight I reconnected and was missing one of my share folders. The only way I could reconnect was to do a 40sec hard reboot. I did try to relaunch my Finder then Connect to Server, and while the missing share folder appears I get an error message when trying to connect it. So hard reboot is the only thing that works so far. I really don’t want to have to do this every morning, is there another way? Perhaps a setting in my Dashboard network or with that specific share folder I could change?
