Is OS5 Indexing a Security / Privacy Risk?

Hello all, having received the notice of the discontinuation of remote access for OS3, I have finally decided to upgrade my EX2 Ultra to OS5. I just have one nagging question though, about the indexing that takes place (which I’m prepared to wait for as my drives are currently not huge); is this a security / privacy risk?

What I’m wondering is, where is the ‘index’ stored once it is made? Is it stored on WD servers, or locally on my NAS unit? I do not really want my home video files names / folder names stored outside of my local network, and so I’m hoping that they’re all stored locally. Can anyone confirm one way or the other?

Many thanks in advance for your responses! :grinning:

Hi @wd9991,

Please be informed that indexing may take from a few hours up to a few days or more to complete Indexing depending on the size and type of your content. Rebooting the My Cloud will resume the indexing process.
