I was able to play fine ISOs from a Synology Media Server and all of a sudden I am not able to play any ! On selecting a file I receive the error “Browse Error: Content not available”. There is no change in setup or config on the WDTV Live or the Media Server.
I was reading somewhere that this is a known issue in that only a limited number of ISOs can be played. Reset (both hard and soft) did not help the problem. While I am able to play other video formats such as mkv …l, the device seems to suddenly lost the ability to play ISOs !
I have the latest firmware 1.06.04 installed and the ISOs are accessible from other devices and play fine.
I haven’t been able to play 2 movies in a row. After I watch one movie I have to power cycle the SMP. I’m sending it back. Gonna get my Seagate FAT+ back out. Hate it, but at least it works.

Thanks
That was a bug a while back on the Live / Live+ / Hub, but I don’t think it ever affected the SMP… The bug that you’re referring to was fixed a while back. And the error you mention wasn’t what happened then; it would say “Unable to play the selected file. Pleae refer to the manual for a list of supported media.”
You’re saying that you are using the Synology MEDIA SERVER? That’s odd; I don’t think ISOs ever worked via Media Server; DLNA doesn’t support ISO playback.
ISOs are only playable via Network Shares and USB disks.
You were absolutely right ! I had been playing them earlier as a network share and unwittingly switched to the media server yesterday which resulted in the error ! Thanks a ton for helping resolve this.
