I experienced the same. Upgrade the WD TD Live firmware and see if that doesn’t solve the issue. Worked for me. cheers.
I believe support for this adaptor was added with .11 firmware upgrade.
i couldn’t find the exact model recommended in in list of supported wireless USB adapters ( DWA-125 Wireless Version A1: with FW 1.00 ), probably sold out at fry’s. i bought the DWA-125 Wireless Rev 2A: with FW 1.3. when i plug it in to my WDTV, it doesn’t even light up. not recognized at all.
have upgraded WDTV fw to 1.01.24, but still no luck.
please help!

It probably uses a different chipset which the WDTV does not recognise.
I have the D-Link wireless 150 USB Adapter DWA-125 Rev 1.0 and it works fine. Found it on Amazon for $29.00.
When you plug it in does the light on the D-Link come on?
Have you tried both the USB ports?
I have this issue now. Have already contacted support and I have the latest FW 1-02-21, and the new DWA-125 I got
was H/W Ver.:A2 and F/W Ver.:1.30 For setting up network there is no choice for wireless. I am going to try a DWA-140,
but if that doesn’t work, I’m going to be upset that there are “supported” devices listed, that do NOT work. Suggesting to try updating firmware was no help, and I am incurring restocking fees to try other “supported” devices. We have no choice ordering an adapter with a certain firmware, and can not be changed. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately the DWA-125 you had was not on the list and therefore cannot be taken as supported. This is primarily the fault of the adaptor manufacturers who like to keep the same number when updating the device.
The list says:
D-Link | DWA-125 Wireless Version A1: with FW 1.00 |
If you buy a DWA-140 don’t forget that the list says:
D-Link | DWA-140 V1.30 |
Personally I went straight for a Buffalo (mini) because there is no mention of versions and it worked perfectly.
Out of interest have you reset the unit to factory defaults on the internal menu, reset via the side button and unplugged the unit. This sometimes sorts out things that do not work particularly after upgrading the firmware. Also as another poster pointed out, have you tried both ports.
peterinnm: Hopefully this will work for you as well.
I received the exact same version of this USB device today (H/W Ver.: A2, F/W Ver.: 1.30).
I had the latest official firmware (1.02.21) installed on my WD Live TV and it did not recognize the D-Link USB device. So, I downloaded ( http://www.wdc.com/wdtvlive_prerelease/) and installed the latest pre-release version (Beta v1.03.22).
After the upgrade, I did a factory reset, let it boot back up, and then plugged in the D-Link USB device. It didn’t light up, so I figured it would be the same story all over again. But when I went to the network settings, I had the option of setting it up wirelessly (this wasn’t an option before). From there on it was easy sailing. The D-Link lit up and I have a solid connection.
Seems like WD is adding support for this version of the device and I would expect it to pop up on their “supported” device list once this firmware release is out of beta.
Good luck.
I agree with “fast_freddie”. Update to beta firmware, and MINT!
Just worked for me.
Thanks buddy! Same case, updated firmware and it worked!
Cheers! :manhappy:
Followed the same steps -
Upgraded to 1.03.2 and then tried D-Link DWA-125 Wireless 150. Worked like a charm!!! TY.
I got excited when I found this thread, I followed the provided url and tried to download the file to my disappointment it says “file not found”. Just my luck… can anyone point me to an alternate url or would someone be willing to email me the file or post it on a file sharing site? I am desperate!
