I have recently purchased a 6TB MY CLOUD hard drive. I use my laptop connected to my TV to watch movies/TV shows of my MYCLOUD using VLC media player and it all works great EXCEPT when I decide to skip a little way through what I am watching, if I do this then the Movie/TV show starts skipping and the colour on the video all changes to grey’s and yeh it goes on and on and its really frustrating. I have NBN which is really fast internet in AUSTRALIA so it can’t be that. Could someone please help me work out why this happens and how to fix it.
There is a known problem with VLC where it causes the gray pixelation of video at times when skipping forward or backwards or when starting the video. Do a internet search for “VLC grey” and you’ll find numerous posts/threads going back a few years discussing the issue. Apparently the solution (for some) has been to access the VLC preferences, go to Video then uncheck “Accelerated video output Overlay”, then close and restart VLC.
