I have just installed OSX Lion onto my MBP, and this has “broken” Time Machine backups as its saying it is not supported, and understand that a Firmware update is needed on my 1TB my World Book drive ?? whats the ETA of this firmware upgrade ??
I have a similar problem with My Book Essential. After the Lion upgrade, it says that my MBE is read-only. I sent an email to WD Support and their response was
Western Digital is still in the process of testing the compatibility of the My Book Essential with Mac OS 10.7 (Lion). As of now we do not have an ETA for full support. As we complete our testing we will post updates to our support website: http://support.wdc.com
I would have appreciated something a little more substantive, especially considering that we are now running a brand new OS without a legitimate backup of our system…
I am having the same problem, and would love to be able to back up my data!
The product worked great until the update, and after some research, I found that all third part externals are having the same issue. I am very hopeful that I won’t have to purchase another external; I just bought this one two weeks ago!
