MBWE (Blue Rings) on a Mac?

Hello,

I’m using a MBWE Blue Rings on a PC for 3 years, but I don’t understand how to use it on a Mac.

If I plug it to my router, the drive can be seen on the “Network” list in MacOSX. But it is so slow (20mn to copy a 700Mb file, the Blue Rings version was a really bad product). So, I want to use it the same way I was using it with my PC : with the MBWE plugged to the computer using the ethernet.

But, this way, the NAS never appears in MacOSX (with windows, it was quite simple).

How can I mount my MBWE in MacOSX ?

Thanks a lot.

The information I have shows is not going to work with MAC, this drive was build for Windows. You will need to upgrade to a My Book World White Light or My Book Live.

As stated by Wizer, the My Book World (blue rings) is not Mac compatible, it will not work with any version of Mac OS.

Thanks for your replies, but I’ve read on some forums that a lot of people are using the Blue Rings MBWE on a Mac (by ethernet of course).

The weird thing is that if I plug it into my router, MacOSX is able to access the MBWE. So, it seems compatible (but with slow access.

I won’t upgrade to the white one, I’ve been so disappointed by the low speed of the Blue Rings.

Glad to hear you got it to work, I’ve tried and it did not work on mine. If you are interested on a fast network drive MB Live is your option. Take a look at the specs  here
