Media Sorting

I have uploaded all my media to the hub from a USB external drive. It contains seperate folders for music, video and photos. I was under the impression that once I uploaded the data, the drive would automatically sort the media to the appropriate folders. Instead, when I click on “Video” or “Photo” or “Music” I am presented with a sample folder and a folder that contains alll the media. I then have to dig down manually until I find the appropriate folder and then it will display the media I want. Every time I go back I have to start over again.

Am I missing something or is this the way it’s supposed to work?

You might need to change the FILTER;  I think the DEFAULT is ALL, which sounds like what you’re seeing.

Hit the GREEN Button and pick the view you want.

Nope, doesn’t work. Whether I go to Music, Video or Photos, I have to dig down to find the files.

I’m wondering if the files were not in folders at all but all lumped together it would work.

I can access the WD drive from my network and try to do this.

Doesn’t sound right.

If you click FILTER by FOLDER, then you’ll navigate through the folder structure as you have it set up on the Hub.

If you FILTER ALL, then you won’t see ANY folders, and all media will be on the First Level.

But either way, you shouldn’t be seeing VIDEOs if you selected PHOTOs, and so forth…

So even if you have JPGs and Movies in the same folder, the Hub should ONLY show you the JPGs when you’re in PHOTO mode.

Is your hub Compiling the Media Library when you turn it on from a COMPLETE SHUTDOWN?

If not, then maybe you turned OFF the Media Library option, which is responsible for indexing all the files.

Tony,

I have the media library set to on, but maybe it didn’t do it right the first time. I now clicked on the “clear library” button, and no media shows up in any folder. I’m going to turn it off and see if it will compile.

Thanks for your help.
