MKV problem - resetting doesn't help

I’m having an MKV files hanging problem on my wd tv (I don’t know if a file with header compression caused it, as I’ve deleted the file that first had this problem). Suddenly I can play avi files, but have problems with all the mkv files (including known good ones that had no problem playing before). They hang when I try to play them, and I have to press the pause\play button a few times untill they actually play (it does happen eventually, but I have to mess with every file untill it does, quite annoying). I did a full reset + restore factory setting on my wd tv, but to no avail.

I’m thinking this might be a network problem, as there is no problem playing the same files from a disk-on-key I stick into the streamer. It only happens when I go to my network shares (the wd tv is connected with a network wire to a router, that is connceted to a pc with windows xp).

Ideas, anyone?

Hello, as you mentioned the problem could be with the network/router, if the files play fine from a local USB connection.

You are definitely using network shares and not media server?

richUK, definitely network share.

I’ve now discovered that I don’t actually have to toggle a few times between pause\play, I can just play the file and eventually it does start - but not instantly, it takes about 10-20 second, not a big deal but really annoying when it happens with every single file.
