Hi,
My video camera produces *.mts files. After analysing these files using MediaInfo I noted that they are BDAV (Blu-ray Video) files. With regards to playing back these files I observed a problem with the WD TV Live Hub during the first 5-10 seconds of the video. Here is approximate description of the playback experience when playing these video files:
-
After pressing OK
-
for the first 5 seconds one sees the video playing with muted audio.
-
after 5 seconds the video playback freezes and one hears the audio playback missed during 1st 5 seconds.
-
after 10 seconds finally the audio and video start playing together.
If one was watching a 2 hour movie I could understand how one would could view this as a minor issue but if one had a collection smaller files (i.e. on the order 1-4 minutes each, e.g. as shot from a video camera for home movies) than the experience of this start up issue becomes a big annoyance, especially if one decides to have the player play thru a directory full of these files.
I believe it would be far better (i.e. for the sake of a more graceful startup) to have an initial delay (e.g. of 5 to 10 seconds, e.g. to allow the player’s buffers to be set up etc…whatever) and have the content stream cleanly in sync from the beginning of the data. This would make for much better viewing experience.
I would be happy to provide a file which displays the above symptoms when played thru the WD TV Live Hub media player. Essential any of my *.mts files from my JVC video camera.
Here is a print from MediaInfo for one of these *.mts files:
