My Book and Mac

I have a new Mac Mini server running Sierra. I want to add extra storage as backup to the computer. I have used My Book for Mac on other Mac Minis and it is a hit or miss. I have noticed that My Books last for a year or two and then fail. The drives fails more so than the hardware.

I am looking at getting My Book for Mac Duo edition and I wanted to find out if I am making the right investment on this decision. I have not purchased a My Book for Mac in a few years. I hope WD has improved on the quality of the My Books and the drives.

I can go with LaCie or OWC Mercury Elite Pro but I am also considering My Book for Macs as well. I am looking for something that will last many years to come and not fail in two years or less.

Hello,

I have a My Book for Mac that is 1 year old and it is still working great. I also have a 2 year old My Book studio.

I have another question. Since this Mac Mini is the server model, I can install 2 hard drives. I need to buy 2.5 type of drive. I have to replace the 2nd drive, non boot drive, and I was thinking of getting a WD blue drive 1tb and format it.

Are the WD blue drive or Black models a good drives to buy for the Mac? I want the drives to last without any issues.
