I purchased a “My Book Essentials”-750gb in May 2010. After it working as it should for about a month, it quit auto backup. However, I was still able to “drag and drop” key photos, documents, etc. and it was okay…until this past week.
The ext. HDD with its “WD Smartware” quit working altogether. I have unplugged it and have now written off the $95.00 ext. HDD.
So much for Western Digital and its product 9 will never purchase WD products again). Hope some folks read this forum and will research more into such products before buying as it is not worth the money and more importantly, all the countless hours on the phone with WD and on its website trying a make this drive work.
On a happier note, may I wish all those that celebrate the season, a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2011.
