I have WD MyBook 2Tb The drive is formatted (SmartWare deleted). Also I have a PC with Win7 and SES driver. Drive is connected to PC by USB2.0 Now I try to update firmware. I run the installer, accept the license conditions, the installer finds the device and starts the installation process. After 3 seconds, the installation fails “Unable to run the firmware updates” What is wrong? What should I do?
Did you turn off your antivirus? That can sometimes cause problems. I think Adobe Flash and Net Framework 3.5 needs to be up to date. I wouldn’t worry about the firmware update unless you are having problems or are using Smartware. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
