My Book Live Duo 6TB - Change Mode to RAID 1 Question

I changed the mode to RAID 1 and now my drive(s) are REBUILDING which so far has been running for more than 8hrs.

Under the REBUILDING status I see the following message “Mirroring the drives and it can take several hours.  The RAID is operational” . 

The part where the msg indicates that it can take several hours I see that this is trully 100% a FACT.

The part  where the msg says the RAID is operational I’m quite clear on. 

I can see that the RAID is operational since I am able to see my storage and my shares.  However,  the question here is - IS IT SAFE TO COPY DATA ONTO THE DRIVE WHILE THE REBUILD IS RUNNING?

 Or should I wait until the Rebuild is 100% complete?

Yes. 

That is what is meant by “The RAID is operational.”

Oh and yes BE PATIENT with the RAID conversion. Mine took 126 hours to complete! I was using the drive extensively over the first 36 hours and after that only intermittently.

I’m doing the same for mybook live duo, the status is showing ‘Rebuilding…’ 44%

Can I turn off my computer before the percentage reach 100% ?

Yes.

Rebuilding took 20hrs in total for me (Raid 0 to Raid 1 on my MBLD 6 TB). 

I was even able to do a firmware update on my Airport Express, though I would not recommend it. Patience is difficult for me.
