I have tried everything and since it is the weekend tier 2 tech support is unavalible. So i’m hoping someone here can help me. I have a ASUS Rampage II Extreme Motherboard eith onboard eSATA i pruchased the external harddrive to use eSATA…but it does NOT detect my drive when using eSATA or firewire,I have also tried the installation CD which shows me a white WD logo on a black background with nothing else in/on the window. I installed the drivers for it for the drive manager but no success even via USB the My Book Studio says unkown size but healthy,i managed to format it in drive manager but thats it,but it is usable.
So my question how can i get the eSATA working?
EDIT::Silly drive, managed to get it working and detected via eSATA but now how can i make the external hdd light bar show how much is filled?

You’ll need to install Smartware for the capacity label to work, it will also allow you to customize it. WD Smartware comes preloaded on the unit, once you run and install it will give you the label display functions.
The drive was in a “unknown” format but i do have the harddrive working at 100% and i have my files on it and still is uknown when plugged in via USB,WD drive manager says unknown size but raid is healthy, where can i find the WD Smartware for the My book Studio 2TB Edition? Also the CD that came w ith my WD My studio II does not work, and the CD files i downloaded from WD do not work.
I have installed the WD Smartware, but under settings it says Drive Settings but it is grayed out and i can not click Set Up Drive
Sorry about that. You will use Drive Manager to setup the RAID configuration on this one and to check the Status. The Smartware will not work with this drive. You can backup your files and setup the RAID again if you want for it to change.
Not a problem, the drive is already set p and usable thankfully. But the bar on the front of the drive does not show how much is used. tried connecting it via USB as well with no luck, when i received the drive it was unusable via eSATA and USB until i went into windows and formated the drive under disk managment. At the moment its fully functional aside from the light bar on the front not showing how full it is.and it also “falls asleep” is their a way to get both problems solved and still use eSATA?
Yup thats the one i downloaded,i pretty much downloaded all the drivers i could from the WD site for my My Book, but it is kind of disappointing the capacity gauge does not work via eSATA will that ever be supported?
