What device do you own? Is it the WDMYCLOUD single bay with OS5?

My current firmware is.

Western Digital Product Software Downloads (wd.com)

What specific My Cloud device do you have? What firmware is it currently running?

You cannot update a first generation single bay My Cloud (P/N: WDBCTLxxxxxxx-00) to OS5 (v5.x) firmware. Only the second generation single bay My Cloud units and other My Cloud units running v2.x firmware can be updated to OS5 (v5.x) firmware. You cannot update a v3.x or v4x firmware My Cloud to v2.x firmware.

My Cloud OS3 End of Service

As Bennor replied, you can’t update your device to OS5.

I have my 1st generation set up for use on my home network.

WDMYCLOUD (1st generation)

As previously indicated you cannot update a v4.x firmware single bay My Cloud to the OS5 v5.x firmware. Your device is End of Service by Western Digital. You can still use your device on your local network. You can still have remote access to it if you setup your own method of remote access (VPN for example).

Per the OS3 End of Service link provided in the previous post:

Q: Will my device stop working if I can’t upgrade to My Cloud OS 5? Will I lose access to my data?
A: After the services are shut down, you can only access the device on a local network. Access through the My Cloud OS 3 mobile app or web app won’t work. Email notifications won’t be delivered. Devices that had auto-update enabled received a final firmware update that disabled remote access and outbound traffic to cloud services. Now, support has ended and you have to use your local network to access your device.
