Will My Cloud OS 5 firmware be available on My Cloud with FW 04.xx.xx ?

I think the answer is “no”.
Also. . . given how the MyCloud Mirrors (which is closer to the Gen2 functional capability) struggle with OS/5. . . . .I would not load that software onto the 1st Gen MyClouds.

This page shows which devices are supported with My Cloud OS 5 and which are not. I don’t know what “not available” means. Do you think this means that is not supported?
As of now. . .yes.
The first page I linked to gives me a hint that the answer will be “never”.
Trust me. . .you are not missing much.
I have a Gen 1 MyCloud with OS3 on it and I have an Ex2 Ultra with OS5 on it. I have no intention of “upgrading” the MyCloud even if it is offered.
Well. Thanks for the answer. I think you may be right that upgrading is risky. The only thing that speaks to me is that My Cloud OS 5 is still in testing phase.
I was told this morning gen 1 was EOL in 2016
