My Cloud PR4100 disappeared from PC and shows offline from web

Hello all,

I am new to NAS. After about 3 weeks of setting up the device at home, I decided to upload my movie files to the device today. I selected about 100 files (about 100 GB) to move to the PR4100 folder. The system began to move files, but showed an error message after a minute or so. I selected “Skip” (do the same). But the transfer of files did not seem to progress after a long time.

I click “Cancel” to stop the process, and closed File Explorer. When I re-opened File Explorer again, the PR4100 was not shown under the Network section, it did show my current computer as an item in the network.

I tried to open PR4100 from the browser (eg: http://mycloudpr4100/), an error message said: This site can’t be reached

I tried opening MyCloud on the web (https://os5.mycloud.com/). After signed in, there was an error message: “Device is offline”

The device at home is still connected to the power. No error message was shown in the display screen.

What can I do to restore the connection now? Can you help?

The problem is now resolved.

After being certain that doing a reset would not destroy the stored data on the system, I did a reset and the device was back to normal now.

At first, I tried the “4 second reset” but the reset button at the back didn’t seem to respond. (Pressed over 4 seconds but the device didn’t respond.)

I then turned the unit off, unplugged the ethernet and power cords, waited for 30 seconds, and plugged them all back. The unit started itself right away. After 5 minutes the unit was back to normal again.

A big relieve!
