My Cloud = Slow, intermittent connection failed

I have 2 WD My Clouds. One at work and the other at home.

Very similair networks, in fact I have gigabit switches at home and not at the office.

The My Cloud at the office is so much faster that my one at home, although has a fraction of the info on the one at home.

I have a time capsule as well. 10 x faster than the my cloud.

I will click on the my cloud device (on my mac under devices) and will wait a minute or so before I see the folders (4 folders to be exact), that’s if it connects at all. very often the ‘connection fails’. Then I wait again when I click on a folder, so on and so forth…very annoying.

I have the latest V04.01.01.413 and it seems worse than before but is always slow.

To copy files is even slower.

I actually just want to stop using it it’s so bad!

I have read some post that I should be in the wd software and copy and paste in there to cut out it going via my mac…still slow.

I have far too much info on it to format :frowning: will take forever to copy a backup.

What can I do ? could it be fautly? I live in SA and bought it in Dubai while on holiday so cant take it back unless it’s an international warrenty.

Welcome to the Community.

I understand your home’s switch is Gigabit, but how about the router itself?

i agree, the more they update the slower it gets.

edit: i believe they are compromising drive speed for more cloud features and giving more memory to speed up web interface.

Hi, sorry wasn’t getting notified of replies. Hopefully I’ve fixed that. No, I don’t think the router is a gigabit, I know, defeats the object :frowning: I don’t have gigabit switches or router at the office either but the one at work is so much quicker.
