I have successfully added my old itunes library on to my wd my cloud. My goal is to now have my itunes play this entire music library on my mac air (without downloading the music to the mac’s local HD) Is there any guide to this process/is it possible? Thanks for your help.
If you are using the itunes server through the Cloud, you should see it in Itunes as a library in Itunes on the Mac which you can then access and play. However, I’ve found that method since it required the Cloud to scan through all my music to be very inefficient.
I have found is that by UNCHECKING the following in your “itunes preference” on your Mac:

uncheck Keep iTunes Media folder organized

uncheck "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library
iTunes will leave your music where it is and provide a link to the music instead.
Thus map your Cloud drive using Connect to Server, smb://WDMyCloud/Public so it shows up on your desktop and simply drag and drop the music that want itunes to remember.
You can organize, rename and much more except they will still stay in one place on your Cloud drive.
Starting up your Apple TV will recognize your iTunes on your Mac.
