My Cloud won't connect to My Cloud Mirror by USB

I own a mycloud 4tb

I just purchased a 4tb mycloud mirror

I would like to have the mirror as my main drive hardwired to the router and the mycloud as the secondary drive connected to it (will be using this setup for plex)

When I go to connect the mycloud by USB to the mycloud mirror it does not read it.

I have tried rebooting, firmware up to date, cable is usb 3

USB content availability is turned ON (on both drives)

I am using Windows 7

Anyone have this issue in the past? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Can you normally access a MyCloud via USB? I don’t have one so I cannot comment, but I know my MyCloud Mirror is only accessible via Ethernet (connection normally to the router, or if required directly to the computer’s Ethernet port via a cable). The USB ports on the MCM are only for attaching USB drives onto, they cannot be used to access the MCM itself.

So if the MyCloud is the same (which I would expect) then it cannot be connected to the MyCloud Mirror, only to another port on your router to act as a second network-attached storage device.

gotcha and thanks. That makes sense.

Anyone have any ideas of how my mcm would be able to identify the mc in regars to being used as a hard drive for a plex media server that is bing hosted on the mcm?
