My new WD TV Live not playing video files - last FW 1.07.xx

I bought yersterday a new WD TV Live after selling my LG Smart Upgrader (which was a mistake anyway) but this device is not playing all my MKV files nor AVI movies. I think there are more then 50 which are not playing.

I tried to downgrade to early FW versions as per some forums’ postings but even with different versions of FW the issue still remain.

WD TV Live is advertising as reading pretty much any possible media file and working with any codecs but this is huge lie! WD TV Live is just a sad joke :frowning:

I will return the device back to the store and I will never buy another Western Digital product again!

The SMP will playback several file formats, but not all encoding is supported.  For compatible formats and codecs you may check the user manual, pages 210-211.

The player will read standard files so it also depends on how your files were made. Not all encoders make the files correctly. Post mediainfo of one of your avi’s and one of your mkv which do not work.
