My Passport Essential 320GB not being detected on my PC

Hi All,

My passport essential 320GB hard disk is not being detected ( the drive ) on my system (Windows 7).

When i go to the devices and printers, its showing Wester Digital disk but the drives are not there in my computer. I have partioned my hard drive to 3 drives and none of them are being detected. Please help me on this. Attached are the screen shots of the errors and information dialouge.

Below is another screen shot of the error ( Drive details in Devices n Printers )

Below are some more screen shots of the error.

  •  When i go to Disk management, i am able to see my WD disk but its in “NOT INITILIAZED” state. Below is the screen shot of the same.

–  When i click “OK”, i am getting the below message.

Please help me recover my disk…

Guyssss…  Please help me here. I have some very important doc’s in there and i need it

I am going through a similar problem right now. There are a couple of softwares which might help you recover lost data-Recuva, Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery, etc. Have you tried Data Lifeguard Diagnostics? It can tell you about the state of the hard drive.

Recuva might work, Stellar Phoenix software isn’t great for data recovery.  Without using the Data Lifeguard Diags, the drive is shot.  Maybe, a format might fix it, but like you said you have important documents on there.  I would recommend taking it to a Data Recovery facility to see if the data is recoverable.

No, that tool is not detecting the disk at all :(

And for formatting, i am not able to see the disc itself. :(

Yep…You have the same problem as me. Is your drive in warranty period? Why don’t you go for a RMA. It might be the best method…
