My WD Passport (1200U017 WD-004) not working

I connected the WD to the PC (XP) USB cable:

  1. The PC recognizes new hardware

  2. the WD does not start and the LED is off

Note: USB cable replaced as evidence

Hello, have you tried connecting the Passport to another PC? As a troubleshooting step, connect the Passport to the back USB port of your computer and avoid using USB extension cables or USB hubs.

Hello, thanks for your prompt reply I will try to do what you suggested.

Ichigo hello, I connected to another PC: negative
              I connected to the rear USB port: negative
              I put in another HDD BOX LED lights up the PC
recognizes new hardware but passport does not work.
