I bought a My Passport Ultra 2TB today. When used on my iMac 20" (using OSX Maverick 10.9.1), the Ultra drive & pre-installed files are visible but the drive is read-only. Would someone kindly help as to why it is Read-Only and how do I enable it to start saving files from my iMac to it? (I tried it out on an old Windows XP netbook & I can create folders and save files into it.) Thank you.

The reason is because the drive is formatted for Windows (NTFS). Mac can only read from this file system. In order to use it on a Mac computer you will have to format it for Mac (HFS).
