My Passport Ultra External HD not initialised

My 1TB external HD is not detected once you connect it. And if checked thru Disk management, it reflects as not initialised and with 0 bytes. Any suggestions on how to fix my externl HD since i need the data stored in the external HD.

Tried the following:

  • Changed usb cord, still nothing.
  • WD Drive Utilities, Run Drive Status Check result: SMART status failed

A S.M.A.R.T. test failure coupled with the size of your disk and not being initialized all point out to an unfortunate physical failure. Data recovery should be handled by a professional data recovery service company.
