My Passport USB 3.0 not being recognized after Windows 10 upgrade

Hi!

I’ve just upgraded my Dell Vostro 3460 to Windows 10.

After the upgrade, my external drive, a 1TB WD Passport is not being detected by the system.

I can see the light on and I can feel the HD functioning, but there no mention of it on the system. Nothing, even in the device manager or disc management.

Before the upgrade the HD worked without a problem.

What I already tried:

  • Plug the HD in other PC with Windows 10 - and it worked perfectly.
  • Update the HD firmware
  • Uninstall all USB related drivers from Windows 10 and reinstall it.
  • Update the laptop BIOS.

Until now I didn’t had any success.

Someone can help me? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi, if the drive is working as intended on another computer with Windows 10 surely is something on the other computer. Have you tried different USB ports and Cable? Unless starting from scratch I really have no idea.

You are right!

I tested using another cable and my problem is solved.

The bug is with the cable. Strangely the HD with the defective cable was able to work on other machines or with Windows 7 on my laptop.

Well, thanks for you help anyway.

My best regards!
