I’ve been having issues with my MyBook Live (P/N WDBACG0030HCH-00). It’s an older model (probably around late 2013/early 2014). Saturday (11/19/2016) the drive kept unmounting itself. Then it wouldn’t get recognized at all by my iMac (running Sierra 10.12). I did have it connected directly to my iMac through it’s ethernet port. I then plugged it into each of my three routers to see if it could connect through there. The only one to get a connection was through the Airport Extreme (also circa 2013). At that point I was finally able to get it up but only through the My Cloud desktop application. From there I able to slowly start moving some of my files over. However, this morning I had to unplug and move the My Book. Though I still used the same ethernet port on the Airport, the My Book would no longer be recognized by the the My Cloud (and obviously not by the computer). It will not even be recognized as being plugged into the AirPort (or any router; I again tried them all). I know the settings have not changed on any network device because other peripherals will work plugged into them.
I have already done both the 4 second and the 40 second resets (a few times). The front LED is Blue when it powers up, the goes a steady, pale yellow (indicating that the “Drive has begun loading the Operating System (OS).” The back LEDs are both green, with the top one flashing intermittently (indicating “Active communication is in progress.”. Also, when I unplug the ethernet cable from the back, the back lights turn off (obviously), but the front one remains the steady, pale yellow. According to the manual it should blink yellow if there is no network cable inserted.
Any advice other than taking it to get it professionally looked at and hopefully have the data recovered.
