Having some issues. I have upgraded my mobile, as the WD photo app won’t work, found out that it was retired and the WD Cloud and MyCloud apps are the replacements.
I cants see pictures in MyCloud as i did in WD Photo, read a few posts and seems rediculous WD would update an app and put it back 10yrs, but seems to be the case with WD Cloud.
Im trying to access the NAS via the MyCloud app, and I can get access via website on mac, from work etc… but it won’t sign in via my S9 android app. any suggestions? I’m considering replacing the NAS if the most basis of features were taken away with an ‘upgrade’…
Your title says “Mybooklive Photos access”. Are you using a My Book Live? If so you would need to use the apps that are designed to work with that product. The My Cloud app for Android or iOS is designed for use with the My Cloud product line and may not work properly with the My Book product line. The My Cloud is a different product than the My Book Live product.
Hi Bennor. Thats correct I am using the Mybooklive, previously i used the WDPhoto app which showed me my NAS pictures in a standard gallery format, much like mobiles. I have found the app is retired with WDMycloud as the replacement. Problem is, the app only allows me to view pictures as a name, for example 123.jpeg i cants see the actual picture. I read online you can link the WD MyCloudHome to the NAS, i can do this via a webbrowser fine, but via mobile doesnt work, says logins dont work, although through chrome on the same device, it works well.
I cant believe WD would replace an app with something 10yrs out of date. Viewing pictures in the gallery format for mobile app surely has to be standard… or do i expect too much?
The My Cloud (subject of this subforum) is different than the My Book Live. Because you have a My Book Live you should see the dedicated subforum for the My Book Live. The My Cloud Home is a different device than the My Cloud had has it’s own subforum.
My assumption is that the My Book Live doesn’t have an official mobile app since one isn’t listed for it under the My Book Live Download support section.
The My Cloud app for Android/iOS apparently only supports the following WD products in addition to the single bay My Cloud model, and the My Book live is not listed. Which would explain why it may not work (or may not work properly) with the My Book Live:

For local network access to a NAS device from a mobile device one does not need to use the WD software for viewing the contents of the NAS. One can use a File Manager app. For example on Android ES File Manager is a popular app that works well with the My Cloud.
Edit to add: It is also possible the My Book Live is “end of life” (and discontinued) as well being it was initially introduced 8 years ago which may explain why there is no official mobile app for it.
