first time posting here. hoping y’all can help me. I have a 2 TB MyBookLive drive that has worked wonders until yesterday…the blue light on the front no longer comes on, and if i go to 192.168.0.11, i can get to the twonky server UI…however, I CANNOT get to the drive by “\mybooklive” like i was used to…and since i do many backups to the private folders not listed in the twonky server, am I screwed???
any help would be appreciated…i have never updated firmware, it was working 1 day ago, i have tried unplugging/plugging in both the MBL and my cable model/router (both in one)…my PS3 can still see the twonky server as well, and stream media…
whats the deal with the UI??? i think the drive is about a year old now
thanks!
this might help , let me clarify…the light on the front isn’t lighting up at all…no green, no blue nothing…the ethernet lights are on, obviously, since I can connect to it still
Hi,
I’m also new to the WD community. I updated to the new firmware a couple of days ago (can’t remember what version but the newest) and it worked well for some days. Now I cannot access the UI/Admin page wit either bonjour or the WD 2go mobile application. The bonjour sever says “Cannot connect to server” and the WD 2 go ipad app finds the mybook live but says “Cannot connect”. I can access the network folders, stream media and do time machine backups but i cannot access the admin UI in any way. I tried to reset the device from the reset button but it didn’t help.
My device is a Mybook Live 3TB model.
Please, anyone has any idea?
Had the same problem. Most of the time a reset worked.
If a reset doesn’t work anymore try to turn off your firewall. For me that helped. Once I made a ‘rule’ in my firewallsettings it is working properly.
The WD2GO app is stil not working flawless with me too. Sometimes it workes, sometime is doesn’t
Good luck, I hope it wil work for you.
what firewall “rule” would I make…to allow a certain IP address? i am willing to try this, i just dont know why since nothing has changed on my network…and you would think that even if the firewall was blocking the drive, the light would still show up a color at all right?
these machines have a history of LED burnout. I don’t have any lights at all but my drive is working fine. However, I’m still two firmwares back (on the firmware before the one that they pulled)
so I have tried many many things, and the drive is basically just unresponsive. I have now lost any communication with it whatsoever, and cannot get into the twonky port…my ps3 cannot see it…though every once in a while it will show up in my network devices then disappear when i try to connect to it…the data on the drive is gone…I am most likely never buying WD drives again, its not old and completely **bleep**'ed…*sigh*
