MyCloud Home - Name? & Frustration

Very disappointed by the lack of initiative features and usability of the MyCloud Home and its app and MAC web service and WD Discovery.

Set up seemed very straightforward. Created an initial user/admin account (first name & surname, email and password). And created 2nd user, to test options etc

On a MAC in Finder … the MyCloud Home is listed and I see the “Public” folders. Has a “Connect As” option … which prompts for “Name” and “Password”. What name and password? Its not the original first name & surname and password from setup. It’s not any combination of them. There’s no option to create what is called “Name”.

Any help of direction? Very frustrating. Oh, and the useability of the MyCloud Home app, seems just as poor as the legacy WD MyCloud. Feels like I’ll be returning this newly bought replacement.

Welcome thoughts and direction.
Cheers
Dan

You need to log the user in WD Discovery to mount the userspace. MCH is not using SMB shares.

Sorry - not sure what that means. WD Discovery MAC desktop app, simply connects as “Guest”. Shows Public and TimeMachine folders only.

Why is it not MUCH more intuitive! Grrr

Welcome any guidance - or direction to user guide for MAC user.
THANKS

If Discovery is installed, then you should use user’s credentials within it. Look into the menu.
If the MacBook Air has an Apple silicon you will have to reduce security to use Discovery.

Solution - was to return the MyCloud Home unit - and move on. It should be MUCH more intuitive and integrated. I only bought this is replace the similar product that WD had stopped supporting (!!) Off to find a better alternative.
