I have just purchased a MyCloud Mirror 3TB device and I am wanting to map a drive letter to my static public IP address so that I can hit the contents of that drive wherever I might be.
I am not really a “network guy” but I have tried to turn on port forwarding (for all ports in range 1-15000 as a test) but computers outside of my network cannot seem to attach.
Has anyone successfully done this before? Assuming this can be done, is it secure from packet sniffing in public Wifi zones if I map a drive letter to an IP address?
I have not tried this, although I doubt it is safe to do this since the port you would have forwarded, could let anyone that knows your IP can access the drive at anytime, but lets see f another user has tried this and can share some information and tips on this matter.
Like I said, I am not very knowledgable about networking concepts although I know a little. WebDAV isn’t a term I was familiar with so I took to the support forums for support.
