N900 or not?

Hey all,

I’ve really tried to read through all the threads the good and the bad but what I’m coming up with is why the Fastrack sounds like a great idea it’s only great on paper and not when actually using it?

Torrents have become a very big way to just watch Videos of all types, Media Streaming has branched off from your standard to AceStream which has become quite popular. The way I see this is X specific services have been pre configured into the router to take full priority which in turn can cause extreme speed decrease for everything else.

I’ve done away with quite a bit of cable services in favor of Hulu/Netflix/Amazon and even other services which means if they aren’t pre configured I get no additional positives from this software?

My biggest issue is I really want to avoid using a Router + Switch, I was hoping to find a router with 6+ ports like this so I could do away with the addiitonal power draw of yet another deivce.

From the experience of users currently using the N900 would I be better off just using a WD My Net Switch or other Switch with 4+ ports to expand or is the N900 a good switch?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I personally have FasTrack disabled because I’d rather have my bandwidth be equally available for my needs. At the end of the day it depends on your personal preferences with regards to how you’d like for your services and bandwidth to be distributed. If your services are already pre-configured and you are feeling comfortable with your current router then a simple switch would be the way to go.

Regards,
