New Blue EZRZ drives vs Green - what's the difference?

Blue line was like a middle choice between Green and Black drives. Now the new 1-6 TB Blue drives have lower 5400 rpm too and all other specifications pretty much the same as Green family had.

So is there any difference between Green and Blue now? If not, what is the point in releasing such similar products?

There is also a 500 GB Blue 5400 rpm drive:

According to WDC’s specifications PDFs, the only difference is that the new Blue is 5400 rpm, while Green is IntelliPower, but IntelliPower means 5400-5900 rpm with frequent spin-downs. WDC marketing will not have fun with this because IntelliPower is not going to be a winning differentiator. Not to mention the large number of angry customers after they realize just how slow their new Blue drive is. By killing their Velociraptor and slowing their Blue, WDC is going in the wrong direction.

“Not to mention the large number of angry customers after they realize just how slow their new Blue drive is.”

Wrong. The difference in performance is actually very small. The speeds reported in the official datasheet have been supported many times by independent users with CrystalDiskMark.
