New drive; doesn't work

I’ve just bought a new My Book live which appears to have all manor of problems although I can transfer files to and from the drive. Before i take it back for a refund I thought i’d give this board a try first. i’d be grateful for any help. i’ve updated to the latest firmware (maybe that was a mistake)

Issues:

  1. Twonky doesn’t recognise any files (standard Mp3s/AVIs) despite them being located in the correct folders.

  2. The drive is locked in device manager and Smartware and can’t be unlocked. it asks for a user/password to unlock but i’ve never given the drive a user/password so i’ve no idea what I’m supposed to input here

  3. Dashboard states 4gb used despite there only being 500meg used

  4. I got lots of “unknown error” and “internal server error” warnings when I’m browsing the dash

  5. I can’t do a factory reset because I can’t enter the utilties screen. The brower just states “please wait” and hangs

Hi,

  1. You have to wait some time before Twonky can categorize all the files, but from the dashboard you can go to media look for the twonky media server options and click on rescan, if that doesn’t work rebuild.

  2. The default user name and password for the my book is admin/admin.

  3. You can try doing a factory restore, if you started a backup using smartware, that might be the cause of the additional size.

  4. Be sure to update the firmware to the latest version.

  5. Try using another web browser, if the problem continues press the reset button on the back for 4 seconds.
