New files not visible on my WDTV Live HD player

I’ve recently uploaded some new .mkv files onto my external 1TB hard drive but when I connect this up to my WD TV Live HD player (WDBAAP0000NBK-02) the new files are not visible.

I’ve applied the latest firmware update (1.06.43) but this didn’t fix the issue.

I have removed the .wd_tv folder to try and force the media player to re-scan the external hard drive but still no joy.

I can view the files when I connect the external drive to my PC (Windows 7) and also I can view the files when I use the File Management option via the media player.

I can view/play the previously uploaded media files without an issue

I have performed a CHKDSK on the external drive and it reports no issues

Any ideas?

Hello,

Have you tried a reset and/or power cycle on you media player after the firmware update?

I have performed a reset and power cycle after the firmware but no joy.

I have removed the new files off the external drive and reloaded them but still not visible.

I have performed a full chkdsk /r on the external drive but no issues detected.

Willing try anything now…any further suggestions?

******Update on my issue******

To rule out any issues with my external drive, I’ve copied the new files onto a new external drive but the media player is still unable to display these files.

If I convert the .mkv files to MP4 format, then the media player sees the new files and will play them without any issues but obviously this is time-consuming to convert to MP4 files.

I have also asked a friend to try and view the files and he is having the same issues as myself. He has model WDBGXT0000NBK firmware version 2.02.32.

Below are examples of the.mkv files that are working and not working

This is one of the files that is not working

This is an example of a file that does work

I can only think that it is firmware-related

Can you see it if you simply turn Media Library OFF entirely?

I’ve switched off media library but still not able to view the files

I had the same problem it meant restarting my PC and the WD.

I installed TVersity which I bought the Pro version.

Now I go Video>Media PLayer>TVersity>folders

and everything is there and anything I add shows immediately. PLays MKV just fine. You might be able to use the free version I went starght for the Pro version. Solved all my problems with files being added and format types.

thanks for the response…I’ll try the Lite version first and see if this helps me
