New Software Release - WD Photos1.1™ now supporting iPad (10/20/10)

WD is pleased to announce the latest release of WD Photos™ now supporting iPad!

WD Photos 1.1, available as a free download from iTunes ®, allows you to access your photos anywhere from the Internet by simply copying your photos to the “Shared Pictures” folder of your WD network hard drive (My Book World Edition™ (white light), My Book Live™ and WD ShareSpace™)

We’ve added a variety of new features including:

  • Pinch and zoom functionality so you can digitally zoom on the displayed photo
  • Horizontal split view for iPad giving you a great navigation and photo viewing experience
  • Option to instantly post photos from the WD Photos app to users’ Facebook® wall
  • New slideshow transitions including pan and zoom, page curl, and cube
  • Increased 5 GB capacity to support iPad’s larger memory and higher resolution
  • iPad full screen support at 1024x768
  • iPhone HD/OS 3 & 4 support (yes, multitasking with iOS4!)

Please try it out and we hope you enjoy it!

This new version is much improved BUT it still has the same issue as the earlier version. I keep getting Device is Offline which can only be corrected by logging into the WD My World Book drive admin screen then logging out (Seems to wake up the drive.) Note there is never any issue accessing the drive via DLNA applications or via shared drives at any time. I’m positive it’s something to do with Mionet.

In fact I wish you could access WD Photos via DLNA rather than Mionet as I usually want to browse my photos at home on my iPad in range of my wireless network than from some remote location.

While talking wishlists it would also be nice if WD let their application access music and videos from the My World Book Drive.
